1-lb lean ground beef
5-¾ c tomato juice
4 c water
1c dry lentil
1c diced carrots
1c diced cabbage
1c chopped celery
½ c chopped onion
1 t salt
½ t black pepper
¼ diced green pepper or 1t green pepper flakes
1 bay leaf
Cook ground beef until brown and drain. In soup pot, bring tomato juice and water to a boil. Add remaining ingredients. Return to a boil. Reduce heat. Simmer 1 ½ hours partially covered.
